Maryhill Community Engagement Platform

Building a digital engagement platform for a Housing Association

Maryhill Housing Association delivers major regeneration projects across North Glasgow, managing over 3,000 properties in a neighbourhood area of 52,000 people. To support decision-making and information sharing for their projects, Icecream has designed and built a bespoke community engagement platform that enables the housing association team to manage their digital engagement with the local population.
Through a series of pilot digital engagement exercises on live masterplanning projects, Icecream liaised with staff, project design teams and community members to create a platform and interface that is flexible for detailed drawings and interactive community feedback. The public-facing site retains a simple, clear interface to focus the user on the detail of the consultation content and encourage user input, while the admin-facing side allows the staff and design team to manage the content and interactive tools. Based on community feedback and user data, the platform is optimised for mobile-first, which provides a challenge for larger detailed drawings. Bespoke viewing tools were optimised to allow flexibility and ensure the level of detail was accessible across different user devices and behaviours.

9 consultations have already been managed through the platform, allowing a wider and more in-depth reach to support regeneration decisions in the area. Check them out here: www.maryhillhousing.dev
