Local Place Plans

Developing Local Place Plans with local communities.

Icecream worked closely with community members, local groups, organisations and stakeholders to develop three local place plans for the communities of Stratherrick & Foyers, Foveran and Garthamlock, Craigend and Gartloch.  Stratherrick and Foyers Local Place Plan was developed in partnership with Nick Wright Planning.

Icecream developed the Local Place Plans through extensive and inclusive engagement processes, ensuring the plans reflect the unique priorities of each community.

Ideas, aspirations, concerns and input were gathered through survey responses, bespoke online platforms, online map comments, well-attended public events, school workshops, and by reaching out to landowners, arranging meetings with local businesses, group leaders and stakeholders and smaller focus discussions to ensure under-represented voices were heard. This mix of formats enabled a broad cross-section of the community to participate meaningfully in the process.

The communities reviewed final drafts of the Local Place Plans through public Drop-in events and online. Icecream incorporated commentary and feedback received on specific elements of proposals into the final Plans. This process fostered a sense of ownership and commitment to the Plan’s delivery within the community.

The resulting plans captured a shared vision for the area, setting out priorities around housing, greenspace, connectivity, services, and identity. They provide a robust, design-led framework for collaboration with the local authority and future partners, rooted firmly in community voice and aspiration.
